Former Governor Terry McAuliffe announced several endorsements from Northern Virginia state legislators on Thursday as he is seeking the Democratic nomination to run for Governor again.

Virginia Senate Majority Leader Dick Saslaw (Fairfax County), Senators Adam Ebbin (Alexandria), Barbara Favola (Arlington), Dave Marsden (Fairfax), George Barker (Fairfax), and Delegates Alfonso Lopez (Arlington), Mark Sickles (Fairfax County), Kathleen Murphy (Fairfax), Karrie Delaney (Fairfax), and Kaye Kory (Fairfax) have endorsed McAuliffe for Governor.

“A great post-COVID economy starts with an educated and well-trained workforce. We need Virginia to lead the nation and Terry McAuliffe gets that,” said Senate Majority Leader Dick Saslaw (Fairfax County, and Cities of Alexandria and Falls Church). “He knows that investing in education is the best investment the Commonwealth can make. I strongly support and endorse his candidacy for governor.”

McAuliffe is vying for the nomination against four other Democrats, state Senator Jennifer McClellan (Richmond), former-Delegate Jennifer Carroll Foy (Prince William), Delegate Lee Carter (Manassas), and Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax.

“This is a critical moment in our lives. We’ve got to think big and act boldly if we want to give every Virginia child a world-class education and create economic opportunities that lift all people up,” said McAuliffe. “I’m honored to have the endorsements of these Fairfax leaders who have been working diligently for Virginia families during this pandemic. I look forward to working with them to deliver a more equitable future for families across Northern Virginia and our entire Commonwealth.”
