Shannon Taylor, the Democratic nominee in Virginia’s First Congressional District, is seeing a surge in fundraising and support going into October.

Taylor raised over $2 million in the third quarter of 2026, according to a statement from her campaign to Virginia Scope. Additionally, The Washington Post released a poll Thursday morning showing Taylor with a four-point lead over longtime Republican incumbent Rep. Rob Wittman.

“Virginians are tired of a broken Washington and career politicians who get richer while they struggle,” Taylor said in a statement to Virginia Scope.

Taylor has raised more than $4 million for her campaign so far. That is more than four times what the Democratic nominee raised for this seat just two years ago.

Wittman won in 2024 by 13 points, but Democrats hope that, with President Trump’s low approval rating in Virginia and Gov. Abigail Spanberger winning this district by two points in 2025, they can flip this seat.
