The Republican Party of Virginia releases a new ad attacking McAuliffe and Democrats

The Republican Party of Virginia (RPV) released an attack ad today aimed at Democratic gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe and Virginia Democrats.

“Eight years ago, Political Boss Terry McAuliffe spearheaded the leftist liberal policies that have made Virginians less safe, made Virginia more expensive to raise a family, and squashed economic opportunity.,” RPV Chairman Rich Anderson said in a statement Monday. “That’s what you get with Democrats!”https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/pjzBwLF9l9g?rel=0&autoplay=0&showinfo=0&enablejsapi=0

New poll shows McAuliffe with a four-point lead.

CNalysis and JMC Analytics conducted the first public poll in the race for governor since both parties chose their nominees.

This poll was made available after Chaz Nuttycombe, the founder of CNalysis, crowdsourced the money to fund the project.

According to the poll, 41% of respondents identified as Democrat, 35% identified as Republican, and 23% identified as Independent or third party. 50% of the poll respondents said they voted for Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election, 42% say they voted for Donald Trump, 4% say they voted third party, and 3% say they did not vote.

In the race for governor, 46% of respondents said they plan to vote for the Democratic nominee, Terry McAuliffe. 42% of the respondents said they plan to vote for Glenn Youngkin, the Republican nominee. 12% of respondents were undecided.

Gun violence prevention group endorses Terry McAuliffe and Hala Ayala

The Brady PAC is a group that is dedicated to gun violence prevention and they are endorsing Terry McAuliffe (D) for governor and Del. Hala Ayala (D) for lieutenant governor.

“Terry McAuliffe and Hala Ayala committed to ending the senseless acts of gun violence that kill over 1,000 Virginians each year,” said Brady PAC Executive Director Brian Lemek. “Terry and Hala have consistently championed common-sense gun laws that save lives and will continue to do so as Virginia’s next Governor and Lt. Governor. Brady PAC is proud to endorse them as a gun-violence-prevention champion and looks forward to working with them once they are elected in November.”

The Brady PAC has already endorsed the Democratic candidate for attorney general, Mark Herring.

Amid the backdrop of gray skies at the Appomattox Court House Historic National Park, Virginia native Kimberly Lowe officially kicked off her campaign Saturday to challenge Rep. Bob Good, R-5th, and secure the Republican nomination in the 2022 primary.

“I’m a well-rounded candidate working on lots of issues, and I think that politics should be about making your life better and bringing people together,” said Lowe, a resident of Brunswick County.

This fall’s elections for all 100 seats in the Virginia House of Delegates will look unlike any the state has ever seen, with women leading the way in unprecedented fashion for Democrats and contests playing out in parts of the state that haven’t seen competitive races in years.

While both major parties are fielding a record number of female candidates, Democrats have crossed a historic threshold: For the first time, women account for more than half of the party’s House nominees, 50 out of a total of 97.

Dispute brewing over anti-bias lessons at Albemarle middle school – The Daily Progress

Anti-bias lessons piloted this spring at Henley Middle School have prompted a range of comments to Albemarle County School Board members and dueling petitions from parents for and against the lessons.

A group of parents’ concerns, comments and criticisms come as the division’s anti-racism policy, which was approved in February 2019 and drafted by students, is starting to make its way into classrooms. That policy calls for an anti-racist curriculum, and Henley’s pilot program was the middle school team’s answer to that charge, Principal Beth Costa said.
