New campaign finance reports show Democrats hold a fundraising edge in Virginia’s races for governor and lieutenant governor, while Republican Attorney General Jason Miyares is leveraging his incumbency to outpace his Democratic challenger.

The latest reports, covering the period from June 6 to June 30, show Democratic gubernatorial nominee Abigail Spanberger raised more than $4.2 million and ended the month with over $15.2 million in the bank. Her top donor was the Democratic Governors Association, which contributed $1.5 million to her campaign. Other major contributors include James and Kathryn Murdoch, who gave $100,000, and Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, who gave $50,000.

On the Republican side, Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears raised $2.4 million for her re-election bid and reported $4.5 million in cash on hand. Her campaign received $500,000 from the Republican Governors Association, $200,000 from Dominion Energy, and $75,000 each from the MacLean-Fogg Company and Michael Ortner, chairman of the Religious Freedom Institute.

In the race for lieutenant governor, Democratic nominee Sen. Ghazala Hashmi raised nearly $1.7 million and reported $1.3 million in cash on hand. Her top donor was the Democratic Lieutenant Governors Association, which gave $1 million. Prominent Democratic donor Sonjia Smith contributed $150,000.

Republican nominee John Reid raised just under $129,000 during the period and reported $163,000 on hand. His largest contribution came from Dominion Energy, which gave $50,000.

Miyares, the only Republican incumbent on the statewide ballot, raised $4.8 million and has nearly $7 million in the bank. His campaign received $2.5 million from the Republican Attorneys General Association and $250,000 from Dominion Energy.

Democratic nominee Jay Jones raised about $2.2 million and ended the period with $1.2 million on hand. His top donors were the Democratic Attorneys General Association, which contributed $1 million, and Clean Virginia, which gave $175,000.
