VIRGINIA BEACH – General Michael Flynn is set to headline Republican congressional candidate Jarome Bell’s “Rally to Right the Ship” in Virginia Beach this weekend. Bell is seeking the Republican nomination to run in Virginia’s second congressional district, currently represented by Congresswoman Elaine Luria.

Flynn was President Trump’s national security advisor for a short time before being fired 25 days into the administration for lying to the FBI and vice president about his contacts with Russia. After pleading guilty to the charges, Flynn was eventually pardoned by President Trump. “It is my Great Honor to announce that General Michael T. Flynn has been granted a Full Pardon,” Trump said at the time”

Now Flynn is endorsing Bell in the VA-02 nomination contest. “Bell’s 27 years of service in the U.S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer, as well as his understanding that his oath never expires, proves Jarome will stand his ground against the constant onslaught by the socialist left, anti-American attacks,” Flynn said in an announcement for the event. “I am strongly and wholeheartedly endorsing Jarome for the Commonwealth of Virginia’s 2nd Congressional district.”

Bell sought the Republican nomination to run against Luria in 2020 but finished third in a three-person primary. Luria eventually defeated former Congressman Scott Taylor by six points and was re-elected for a second term.

This is not Flynn’s first foray into Virginia politics recently. Earlier this year, he endorsed state Senator Amanda Chase in her failed run for the Republican gubernatorial nomination.

Bell called Flynn’s endorsement an honor. “I’m honored to have a statesman like Gen. Flynn offer such high praise for our campaign and our deeply shared values,” he said in the announcement.

Bell is battling against state Senator Jen Kiggans, Andy Baan, and Ted Engquist for the nomination. So far, Kiggans has outraised the rest of the field drastically according to the latest fundraising reports. Kiggans’ $286K haul more than doubles Bell’s $103K. Baan and Engquist have only raised $17K in total between them both.

Flynn will be with Bell at Froggie’s in Virginia Beach on August 7 at 4 p.m.
