Del. Adele McClure, D-Arlington, announced her intention to enter the VA-07 Democratic primary race if the redistricting referendum passes on April 21.

“For too long, the political establishment has treated Congress like a private club. If you do the bidding of the billionaires and the corporate interests, you get their support. They’ve bought a Congress that puts their interests first and leaves working families behind. This seat doesn’t belong to the powerful insiders. It belongs to the people who are struggling every day in Donald Trump’s disastrous economy,” McClure said. “Like most in our district, I’ve had to balance rising childcare costs, rent increases that price us out, and a healthcare system that seems to be working against us, instead of for us. It’s time to reclaim our power, and that’s why I intend to run to represent the people of Virginia’s 7th District.”

Del. Dan Helmer, D-Fairfax, and former Biden official and First Lady Dorothy McAuliffe are already running in the race.
