Republican Party of Virginia Executive Director Ken Nunnencamp sent an email to the GOP Victory Campaign staff informing them that if they do not meet their goals by this Sunday, they will be terminated. The GOP Victory Campaign is a coordinated field effort among statewide candidates and the RPV to mobilize voters for the November election.

The email from Nunnencamp was addressed to Orlando Martinez, the director of the Victory Campaign.

“I was looking over our production and unfortunately, we’re not close enough to our goals to justify the cost of the program,” Nunnencamp wrote. “I see some areas where we’re exceeding, and others where we’re woefully behind. We have four days left in our calendar week before we hit the end of the month (Sunday night), and I think we’re going to have to take some steps to ensure the success of the program moving forward.”

Nunnencamp said that each region’s current goal is to knock 2,000 doors by Sunday night. The commonwealth is divided into 15 different regions for this program.

“If anyone fails to hit at least 1,500 doors by Sunday night, we’re going to have to let them go and issue their final paycheck effective through August 31,” he wrote.

Nunnencamp said that if anyone fails to get 2,000 doors the following week, they will be let go.

“I understand this is unfortunate,” he continued. “If anyone would like to have an individual conversation to discuss a strategy to hit goal moving forward, I’m happy to participate, but at this point we will not be entertaining any excuses or explanations as to the above requirements.”

Martinez, the program’s director, sent out his own email blast to the staff with Nunnencamp’s email attached.

“I want to be upfront with everyone. We are under a lot of pressure right now,” Martinez wrote. “Our numbers are not where they need to be. Some regions are doing well, but others are falling short.”

Martinez criticized staff for not submitting reports each day by 9 p.m., writing that it makes it harder for them to determine which regions require more assistance.

“We all signed up because we want to win,” Martinez continued. “That means holding ourselves to the standard and showing we can deliver.”

In a statement to Virginia Scope Thursday, Nunnencamp said RPV wants to use all resources to help Republican nominees win in November.

“Virginia Republicans are united behind our nominees, and we are determined to fully leverage every resource at our disposal to secure victory this year,” Nunnencamp said. Virginia Republicans are united behind our nominees, and we are determined to fully leverage every resource at our disposal to secure victory this year. “The Joint Victory Program launched by the Winsome Earle-Sears for Governor campaign this summer has been a tremendous success so far, and we are confident that our team has what it takes to bring our message of common-sense conservative values to every corner of the commonwealth by November 4.”
