As there is finally a light at the end of the tunnel with several highly-effective vaccines becoming available soon, COVID-19 numbers continue to rise with the colder weather arriving to stay.

Here are the updated COVID-19 numbers:

Mathews County has seen a total of 160 cases. 12 of those cases resulted in hospitalizations and so far only one death from COVID-19 complications has been reported.

Mathews is currently seeing a seven-day average increase of one new case per day. The seven-day average of new daily cases among a population of 100,000 in Mathews is 8.1, which is nearly 20 points below the statewide average.
