A cargo ship ha run aground in Norfolk near the entrance to the Hampton Roads saltwater port at Sewell’s Point.

the Panamanian-flagged Hong Dai. The 738-footlong ship is currently sitting on a “soft sandy bottom.”

There have been no reported injuries or serious damage to the ship according to the Coast Gaurd. Crews are currently investigating from aboard the ship. Virginia’s Maritime Incident Response Team also responded.

The Coast Gaurd has instructed the crew of the ship to not move while they work with the ship’s owners to figure out how to remove the large vessel.
