As Virginia is still battling the COVID-19 health pandemic, DMV continues to open more locations across the commonwealth to help customers stay on the road.

Linda Ford, the Deputy Commissioner of DMV says all but 3 locations are open and that they are currently holding 10,000 appointments a day. They are implementing a new policy to only schedule driving-related appointments on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

During a press conference on Tuesday, Governor Ralph Northam announced that he is extending the validity of driver licenses for 60 days past their expiration date.

DMV says they will also be allowing customers to renew their license by mail or online, beginning in mid-September.

This extension does not apply to vehicle registrations.
